Workshops and Recitals

Private students of the Music Academy are required to participate in quarterly performance workshops, in which professional performance techniques are studied, and recitals, held in local libraries and professional recital halls.  There are many reasons for this requirement:

1.  Performance preparation increases practice time.

2.  The study of material for performance improves comprehension and retention.

3.  The study of performance techniques enhances expression and fosters musicality.

4.  Performing builds confidence and self-esteem.

Workshops and recitals are held on consecutive weekends in the following months:

1.  March

2.  June

3.  September

4.  December

The December recital is given a holiday theme and is open for television media coverage.  Students who are exceptionally well-prepared for this recital are invited to perform at other local events, including televised holiday specials.  Intermediate-advanced students may also be invited to lead holiday caroling in local neighborhoods.
